Academic Programs - Theory and Practice
Courses are structured so that students learn to think creatively and work in
teams to solve problems. Students work individually and in groups to conduct
research and present their findings publicly, both orally and in writing. They
use a variety of computer, audio and video programs to create multimedia presentations
that emphasize public speaking and leadership skills. The latest textbooks and
business periodicals are used to guide students through various subjects. In
order to increase understanding, real-life examples are incorporated into lectures
and class projects.
Professors at ACMT are dedicated to a teaching and learning partnership. They
take time to answer students' questions and are available outside of class for
assistance. Students are encouraged to take an active role in their own education
and to ask questions and seek help when necessary. Deadlines for assignments
and exams are clearly presented at the beginning of each course, so that students
can keep up with their studies and manage their time effectively. Grades are
based on criteria outlined during the first class.
Since all classes at ACMT are taught in English, students must have a solid
grasp of the language before they enroll. About 65 percent of course materials
are taught by American professors. ACMT's Croatian professors also teach in
English.
ACMT pursues new and emerging career areas, and develops curriculum in response
to changing technology and social conditions. Current offerings build students'
skills using a balanced academic program that incorporates business, hospitality,
science and liberal arts courses.
